Behind York 911 Alerts

How York 911 Alerts Works

York 911 Alerts is an independently operated emergency-information platform built specifically for York County, Pennsylvania. It is not just a copy of another incident page. We operate our own servers, collectors, database, processing systems, maps and notification services to turn public emergency information into a faster, more useful local resource.

Our Servers

Our servers do the work behind the scenes 24/7. Automated collectors check supported sources about once every minute, compare incoming information with incidents already in our database, detect changes, classify calls and publish updates to York911Alerts.com. Because processing happens on our systems, we can preserve and improve the information instead of simply displaying a temporary outside feed.

Where the Data Comes From

The core incident information comes from publicly available York County emergency-information sources, including York County DES WebCAD and supported York County fire information. Different sources can contain different pieces of the same event. Our system is designed to normalize those differences and build a consistent incident record. We do not have access to York County's private internal CAD system.

Live Incident Timers

Each incident is time-aware. York 911 Alerts uses the available dispatch or incident time to show how long a call has been active and keeps that context as the incident changes. That makes it easier to distinguish a call that just happened from one responders have been working for an extended period.

The Incident Map

Our map is generated from the incident data we collect. The system interprets available location and municipality information, attempts to place the call in the correct area of York County and applies geographic safeguards to prevent obviously bad locations outside the county. Pins are approximate when an exact public location is not available.

More Than Map Pins

The map connects the countywide view to individual incidents. Users can visually follow active Fire, EMS and Traffic/MVA activity, see where calls are concentrated and open incident details without working through a raw dispatch list. As incident information changes, the map can change with it.

Calls Don't Just Disappear

When a call leaves a live source, York 911 Alerts can retain the incident in our own database. That powers Recently Cleared, searchable incident history, municipality history and historical statistics. A call that happened earlier can still be useful even after it is no longer active.

Incident Processing

Incoming records go through our own processing logic. The platform can identify updates, normalize municipality names and source terminology, classify Fire, EMS and Traffic/MVA incidents, identify major incidents, associate responding-unit information and reduce duplicate records before information reaches users.

Personalized Alerts

Our notification system evaluates new incidents against each subscriber's saved choices. Users can select the types of incidents and supported geographic areas they care about instead of receiving every call in York County. Duplicate-delivery protections are also built into the notification pipeline.

Our Own Radio System

We are building locally operated radio-monitoring infrastructure for supported York County public-safety communications. The system is designed to receive radio traffic locally, identify talkgroups, capture recordings and process audio through automated transcription so radio information can eventually add context to incidents already on the site.

Built to Combine Sources

The long-term architecture is multi-source. A public incident feed might provide the call type and municipality while another source or supported radio traffic provides units or additional context. Our goal is to correlate reliable information into one evolving incident record rather than make residents check several disconnected places.

Built Differently for York County

York 911 Alerts is being built as a local incident platform, not simply a live call list. Our own server-side collection, persistent database, incident timers, geographic processing, interactive map, history, personalized alerts and developing radio/transcription infrastructure allow the same incident to become more useful over its entire lifecycle.

Collect it. Organize it. Preserve it. Connect it. Alert the people who care about it.

Transparency

York 911 Alerts works with publicly available information. Source outages, delays or incomplete information can affect what appears on the site. Automatically generated classifications, map locations and radio transcriptions may contain errors, and map pins should not be interpreted as exact emergency addresses.

York 911 Alerts is independently owned and operated and is not operated by, affiliated with or endorsed by York County, York County 911, any municipality, police department, fire department, EMS organization or other government agency.

If you are experiencing or witnessing an emergency, call 911.
